Eighteen-year-old Jamal lives in the slums of Mumbai and is about to win 20 million rupies in the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. He is only one question away from victory when the police arrest him on the suspicion of cheating. How did this boy, who isn't even interested in money, end up in the final of this TV programme? And how come he knows the answers to all the questions? During his interrogation it becomes clear how every episode in Jamal's life led to one of the answers to the quiz questions. Slumdog is a great movie, which stands out because of its wonderful soundtrack and the speed with which it has been filmed.
